❖ Preface ❖
Creation is a form of faith—both alluring and soothing to the soul. My inspiration stems from my life, my thoughts, and my emotions, while creation serves as an outlet for existence. Though I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a teacher, an artist... embodying countless roles, it is only when I create that I truly become "myself."
My oil painting series Bound for Love encapsulates my earliest experiences of raising a child. This collection documents my psychological journey into motherhood—from the initial joy, anxiety, and tension of pregnancy, to sleepless nights after childbirth, the disorientation and pain of losing my former life, the struggle of being misunderstood, and eventually, through continuous adjustment, forging deeper bonds with my increasingly independent child. It is a process of learning acceptance and feeling both love and being loved. The series We Need a Break serves as a reminder to pause and rest amid life’s busyness. The Idiom Series is my personal confession about juggling multiple identities.
July marks the season of graduations, and all of this is a way to reflect on the past decade of my life. In the end, my paintings speak louder than my words ever could.

❖ Curator Preface ❖
Having known Ng Sok Chan for decades, she embodies many identities, such as artist, teacher, and mother. Through her brushwork, she expresses her path of becoming a mother in a self-healing manner, reflecting her inner examination and confession as she navigates through these multiple identities. In her hands, the brush transforms into a gentle sword, and the paint becomes a soothing blade. The process of her creation serves as a ritual of self-healing, with each stroke outlining the waves of her inner world. Ultimately, reaching a sense of serenity.
When observing her creations, we can hear the whispers from the depths of her heart. Her arts have long spoken thousands of words for her. Today, as we appreciate her works, we not only gain insights into her life story, but also develop a deeper understanding of the strength and resilience of modern women.
