Sophie's Adventures in wonderland - Sophie's Leong's Art Exhibition
Sophie's Adventures in Wonderland centers on the artist’s subjective gaze, inviting viewers into a perceptual journey that oscillates between reality and imagination. The exhibition unfolds through three narrative sections. First, the Love Poetry Series uses mixed media—roses, tulle, lace, and mesh—to symbolize purity, fragility, seduction, and constraint in love. The artworks can be transformed into wearable brooches, suggesting intimacy and the internalization of love. Second, the Demonic Temptation Series, comprising paintings and artbooks, visualizes moments of moral seduction through seven demons representing the Seven Deadly Sins. Masked in beauty, they conceal their true nature while luring individuals into desire, offering a confrontation with inner darkness. Third, the Story Series draws from religion, fairy tales, films, and social issues, expanding the cultural and narrative dimensions of the imagery. The exhibition constructs a layered visual realm where symbolism and emotion intertwine, guiding viewers to reflect upon the subtle tensions between self, desire, and the world they inhabit.

Artist Biography：
梁秀芬 Leong Sao Fan
Sophie was born in Macao and holds a Ph.D. in Design from Tatung University in Taiwan. She also earned an MA in Communication Design (Illustration) from Kingston University London, UK, and a BA from the Department of Textiles and Clothing at Fu Jen Catholic University.She is currently the Director of 1874 Gallery, and has previously served as an Assistant Professor at Taipei City University of Science and Technology and a Lecturer at City University of Macau. Her artistic practice is characterized by a dark and opulent aesthetic, with a focus on fantastical themes and interdisciplinary mixed-media approaches. Her works integrate visual storytelling with rich cultural symbolism. She has exhibited internationally in cities including London, Venice, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Macao. In addition, she has presented academic papers at international platforms such as the IASDR Conference in Manchester, UK, and the JSSD in Japan, reflecting a practice that bridges academic research and artistic creation.
