Artist Biography

Toni Tang Tong Nei, graduated from National Chung Cheng University in History major, minor in Political Science. She started studying watercolor since 2017 and oil painting since 2019. In the “Collective Exhibition of Macao Artists 2019" organized by the Instituto Cultural, her work of the modern ink painting “The Old district in alley” was awarded with “Best Selection Award. Her work of oil painting “Lantern” was shortlisted for the “AFA Autumn Salon 2021”. Modern ink painting “The boat of memories” was shortlisted for the “Collective Exhibition of Macao Artists 2021". oil painting “Hanging Arch”, “Infinite Universe” and modern ink painting “The boat of memories” were shortlisted for the “AFA Autumn Salon 2023”. Modern ink painting “The boat of memories” was shortlisted for the “Exhibition of Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas Chinese exhibition area of the 14th National Exhibition of Fine Arts, China 2024”. oil painting “Sitting out areas in alley”, “was shortlisted for the “AFA Autumn Salon 2024”. Modern ink painting “who is parasitic on whom” was shortlisted for the “Visual arts annual Exhibition of Macao 2025-Chinese calligraphy and painting". Permanent member of Macau Artist Society, Macau Youth Art Association, Macau international Printmaking Arts Research Center and Art for All Society.

Preface

The paintings depict the old houses and landscapes of Macau, using both Eastern and Western painting materials, Through the themes of changing times, cultural significance, and historical valve, they reflect Macau’s unique characteristic of multicultural coexistence, blending innovation and diversity while preserving its old traditions.

These once-prosperous homes hold many memories, beautiful, comfortable, and reassuring, representing our feeling of home , Even after many years, or when they are deserted and become lonely and old, they still hold many indelible traces, Just as every step leaves a mark, everything we do is recorded.

Whether they are praised or cursed depends entirely on our own thoughts. These old houses stand as a testament to our resilience, enduring the test of time.
